About Northern Gymnastics Club

Northern Gymnastics Club, based in Cramlington, Northumberland, is a Community Interest Company, wholly owned by a registered charity. The club holds the Sport England Club Mark accreditation in providing a range of gymnastics pathways – from recreational to competitive level in a safe, friendly and caring environment. The club has an ethos of being inclusive and we cater for children and young people of all ages (pre – school and above) and abilities (beginner to advanced), with every session taught by dedicated and qualified coaches who have been DBS checked and hold safeguarding qualifications.

Gymnastics is an extremely popular option for children and young people as it is an all year round, indoor activity that is fun and healthy. Sessions are designed to improve co – ordination, flexibility, balance and strength. In addition, gymnastics also plays a vital role in the education and development of children and young people by encouraging patience, teamwork, co – operation, confidence, hard work and friendship.

Our sessions take place in our 16,000 sqft gymnastics hall, incorporating 2 performance sprung floor areas and a wide range of equipment to cater for all ages. Our recreational sessions cover general gymnastics, men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics, sports acrobatics and tumbling, rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining, enabling children and young people to develop the core skills across all gymnastics disciplines. They will use a variety of equipment including balance beams, bars, vaults and tumbling tracks throughout their sessions, whilst progressing through the club’s awards scheme.

We also offer advanced recreational sessions for all ages, and gymnasts will be invited to join these sessions, when they have reached the required standard to enable them to progress further.

Our Gymnastics Academy is for those gymnasts that have been selected to represent the club in Regional, National and International Competition, within the disciplines of Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and Sports Acrobatics and Tumbling. Our Academy Gymnasts have achieved many successes including qualifying for and attending the 2019 IAIGC World Championships, held in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.

In addition to our weekly programme of gymnastics sessions, the club also offers opportunities for all our members to take part in regular gymnastics competitions held at our venue, to attend workshops, gymnastics camps and 1 to 1 coaching sessions during school holidays, and we run a range of fundraising activities for members to get involved with, including our popular gym sleepovers.
